THE STORYBOARDS

Sometimes storyboards happen on purpose, in front of drawing tablet. This idea was spurred by a conversation I was having with my professor. Midway through spitballing ideas for a narrative, something struck me, and in an instant I could see all of the moments I wanted to portray for the chorus of Lana Del Rey’s song, West Coast.

Starting from the bottom, the woman goes into a bar to drown her sorrow. She would over indulge on bottles of wine and whiskey until she became overwhelmed with rage and throws her glass at a mirror. The lyrics made me imagine a story about a woman who found out her partner was unfaithful. To add a bit more character to the narrative I wanted to start from the climax of her emotion and go in reverse to the start of her night.
